SAVE THE FOREST, SAVE THE JARAWA TRIBE
How to Save the Jarawa Tribe

Now you've heard about the problem and all the various threats that the tribe faces, but what can actually be done and what can you as an individual do? After long consideration, I finally came up with an idea, which could possibly save the tribe and prevent them from going extinct and it goes like this. Since tourism is the main problem, you raise the taxes on plane tickets to the Andaman Island and this instantly decreases the amount of tourists, since they will want to go somewhere cheaper. With the profit money made on the plane tickets, you could reroute the road, so that it no longer runs by the forest and so that the Jarawa people don't get any unwanted visitors. This again decreases the amount of tourists, which is great for the Jarawa, but not so much for the government, so to earn back this money, you could educate people to lead guide tours in the Jarawa forest. This would be a tour of the forest and a possible meet with the Jarawa people, however this time they get to decide when to interact. So there would be a meeting point in the forest, where the tribal people can go if they want to interact with the humans from the outside world. This again prevents people from coming to their homes and destroying it, because there is a meeting point, away from their homes and the tourists can't go further than that. Now that's a long term solution, but what if you want to help right now, what is there to do? I would definitely suggest that you do a background check on where you go on holiday, to make sure you aren't supporting the extinction of tribes and you could also donate to survival international.
