Tourists? How are they a threat?

They look harmless right? Well in most cases they are, but not for the Jarawa tribe, towards them tourists are one of the largest threats they face. Even though they are causing so many problems, it is hard for the Andaman people to get rid of them, because it is one of their largest incomes. Tourists don't only infect the Jarawa people with diseases, that could wipe out the entire tribe, but they are also selfish and all they care about is themselves and that they have a good experience. There are even records of tourists getting drunk and sexually harrassing the Jarawa people in their own homes. Now that's just not right. If anything we should be taking extreme care of these beautiful and rare tribal people, but no we have to go along and destroy everything. The more tourists visit the islands, the larger the problem becomes, not only due to the increase in people, but also because then there is an even smaller chance that the government will shut down the main road and prevent tourisits from visiting the forests, in which the Jarawa tribe lives. It's horrible to think that such a "small" thing as tourism could cause the extinction of a tribe.

It may seem like a simple and quite solvable problem, but there are so many aspects to it, that it is hard to come up with a solution, that will cover all parts; Politcal, economic, social and environmental. To start of easy with the environmental problem, all the large trucks that drive on the road right by the forest, are emmiting a whole lot of carbon dioxide, which is no good for the people, but also not for the forest. In the long run it could cause diseases to occur in the tribe and it could also lead to the plants and animals dying, because it isn't healthy for them and they aren't adapted to that environment. Another large one is the social aspect, because the tribal people almost become like zoo animals and aren't acting themselves anymore, they are performing for the tourists. Just like zoo animals they don't have their freedom anymore either, since the tourists decide when to see the Jarawa people, when really it should be the other way round. The Jarawa people should get to decide when they want to interact with the outside world, it should in no way be forced, which is what's happening currently. But why is it so hard to solve? Well mainly because of the corrupt government. They have several times tried to shut down the road leading to the forest, but clearly aren't being strict enough and have just "forgotten" about it. However it is understandable that they can not just shut down the road, because this would prevent any tourists from entering, which solves the problem for the Jarawa tribe, but would cause the Andaman Islands to go corrupt, since tourism is their main income. If the Islands go corrupt then that would only cause even more problems for the tribe, so that isn't quite a solution either. So what is the solution?
